LimAarc short description

Noise Calculation with LimA under ArcGIS

LimAarc
With LimAarc , LimA is embedded in the GIS so you can perform your noise calculations with LimA directly from ArcGIS. Your geo-data (Geodatabase, Shape, ...) are directly available for calculations. There is no need to export the data for calculation purposes, and only one non-redundant set of data remains for further processing. Powerful ArcGIS tools for completing, editing, correcting, and adjusting data are available. You may determine the parameters and start the calculations directly within the GIS. Results are accessible as sets of data and can be used by ArcGIS immediately: e. g. for generation of maps or further processing like merging with other geo-data.

Project Parameters
In the parameters dialogue, the relevant calculation parameters are set interactively with the GIS. You may define the area of calculation by any existing set of data. Additionally, the currently displayed area can be used or an area defined manually. LimA-objects in the sets of data are recognized automatically and provided with the corresponding LimA-labels. Further specific parameters needed for the noise calculation are defined by LimA subdialogs.

Calculations with LimA-Server
Noise calculation is started from within the GIS via the LimA Server- Concept. The calculation core works independently from the GIS, allowing you to use ArcGIS for any other purposes during calculation. A progressbar displays information about the calculation status and allows for the cancellation of the operation.

Results in the GIS
The calculation results are converted into GIS-data automatically and are available as raster data in the GRID-format. InArcGIS these data are directly applicable and may be linked to other existing data for further analyses. All powerful display options of ArcGIS are available. In combination with existing GIS-data appealing maps and reports of your LimA-results can easily be created.
As an option, you may generate results in Geodatabase- or Shape-format.

Direct Attribute Information

The LimA-object definitions are available in the GIS. So LimA-objects are recognised automatically, and explanatory information about the LimA object attributes can also be displayed. Via the ‘AttribInfo’ command in the context-menu of a column of the attribute-table, a dialog-box displays the LimA-informations of the chosen attribute.

Direct Point Calculations
Noise calculations can easily be performed by LimAarc for any receiver point. Just select the command “Calculate receptors” in the context menu of a point-layer. Calculations are then carried out for the whole set of data or an existing selection. The results are inserted into the attribute-table of the point layer immediately, and thus are accessible in the GIS for further handling. By moving or adding points, it’s easy and fast to calculate the noise level at any single point.

3D-Data
ArcGIS’ powerful 3DAnalyst visualisation tool lets you display 3- dimensional data easily and quickly. So, effective plausibility checks of the data are possible, and results can be presented impressively.

3D-Façades
For detailed analyses, charges of façade elements can be determined by LimA. These can be used directly in the GIS and thus by the powerful 3-D tool of ArcGIS. Also combinations of views of cities and integrated displays of façades are possible.
