FLADIS provides a passive data assimilation to calibrate existing modelling results with observations and to reduce the differences between measured and modelled data prior to the interpolation.
The data assimilation produces a significantly higher agreement between model background fields and observations while keeping the structure of the model results. The spatial prediction ability of the visualisation procedure improves significantly. The method implemented for data assimilation is the Optimum Interpolation.
